    MI in the Workplace

    Moving the needle in organizations and agencies through Motivational Interviewing

    What is Motivational Interviewing (MI)

    • An evidence-based communication style that enhances an individual’s ability to engage and influence others for needed behavior change;
    • Draws upon the intrinsic empowerment and agency within others to take charge of their own behavior, habits, and workplace choices;
    • Proven applications in leadership and management, organizational psychology, interpersonal communication, home and workplace environments.

    Who Benefits from MI

    MI is especially recommended for “helping” professions and agencies, where success is measured by your ability to support, empower, and care for others.

    • Human Services
    • Healthcare and Nursing Homes
    • Educational Institutions (elementary through collegiate)
    • Therapy, Mental, and Holistic Health
    • Physical Fitness and Nutrition
    • Addiction Recovery and Remediation

    These industries attract dedicated people who have a tough job --     my goal is to make their job easier.

    The Business Case for MI

    MI can mitigate these common organizational pitfalls:

    • Employee burnout and compassion fatigue - A hallmark threat of caring professions
    • Low employee or client engagement, retention, and high turnover
    • Ineffective management practices and low performing teams
    • Poor conflict resolution and unsuccessful communications
    • Poor client/patient behavior change outcomes

    Why Work with Me

     I have nearly 20 years of experience providing MI training in all sorts of environments and have been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers since 2005. I have developed the ability to spot organizational barriers to motivation and figure out workarounds when policies can't be changed.

    My second passion (after MI) is research. I'm comfortable developing measures, finding control groups and analyzing data that can help you establish an ROI.

    My training focuses on implementing bite-sized pieces of MI. I developed an innovative online practice platform that walks people through the material without leaving them overwhelmed and not knowing where to begin

    Stop Solving Other People's Problems

    I felt like I had superpowers

     "These lessons made me be honest about my communication skills, which wasn't always easy to accept. These lessons are as rewarding as they are valuable."

    -- Carol C.

    Stop Solving Other People's Problems

    I felt like I had superpowers

     "I'll be honest, I was practicing with a healthy amount of skepticism. The reason being that I'm so used to my family being so hard-headed that I was expecting the usual resistance. However, I saw the difference in responses like it was day and night! It was super cool, it almost feels like you have a superpower."  -- Chris M.

    Stop Solving Other People's Problems

    "I learned to spend less time trying to solve other people's problems and more time asking people to identify "what" they want & need and then empowering them to "do it".  -- Ana G.
